On Oct. 1, 2009, Northeast Region reorganized to fulfill the requirements of IMCOM Transformation. The new structure is composed of the Command Group, Management Support Office, Inspector General, Operations Cell, Region Installation Support Teams and Functional Support Teams.
The Region Installation Support Teams (RIST) are directly engaged, Garrison-focused support elements within the Region designed to reduce the span of control for the Region Director, enhance synchronization and management of Region assets, anticipate and develop proactive solutions to emergent requirements, solve issues at the lowest level, and significantly increase Region responsiveness and suupport to the Garrisons and their customers. (Annex I, IMCOM Transformation Implementation Guide, paragraph 3.5)
Functional Support Teams are an extension of the IMCOM Headquarters Core Staff focused on providing direct support to their designated Region. There is one FST per Region per functional element.(G-1, G-5, G-6, G-8, FMWRC, AEC, Safety, Internal Review, EEO, Public Affairs, Chaplain, Legal, and Stationing) except in the case of G-3 and G-4 which has one FST per Division.
Functional Support Teams are made up of Headquarters staff whose primary responsibility is to provide focused support to their designated Region. In coordination with the Core staff, the FSTs seek every opportunity to power down functional decision making authority to the lowest level possible, and maximize Garrison level flexibility to respond to Senior Commanders and supported command requirements and priorities. (Annex I, IMCOM Transformation Implementation Guide, paragraph 2.2.2). For contact information for NE Region FSTs please see the Phonebook link above.
